How it worked
Join Juno
Sign up at joinjuno.com — it takes 2 minutes and there's no credit impact.
You were automatically considered
Every incoming University of Washington medical student who joined Juno before October 1st, 2026 was automatically considered for one of two $1,000 scholarships. No application, no essay, no additional steps.
Winners are notified
Two recipients are selected the week of October 6th and each receives $1,000 disbursed directly to them.
More than a scholarship
Medical school is one of the biggest financial commitments you'll make. Juno exists to make sure you're not paying more than you have to — through negotiated private loan rates, a rate match guarantee, and now, a scholarship program built specifically for incoming University of Washington medical students.
What medical students get with Juno
Automatic Residency Deferment
Automatic residency deferment with a healthcare-focused lender is offered in our marketplace to provide $25 per month loan payments during residency and automated residency deferment options for specific programs.1
Expanded Eligibility
In 2025, over 80% (1,200+) of graduate Juno members with no current income and no cosigner qualified for at least one private loan option through Juno. If you do have access to a creditworthy cosigner, adding one may still reduce your interest rate.
Exclusive rate discounts
Join free to access exclusive rate discounts that save you more money than going to our lending partner directly. For the median member, we expect rates will be ~1.5% lower.2
How does this compare to federal loans?
Medical students should weigh a few key factors when comparing federal and private loans. Federal loans include borrower protections such as income-driven repayment plans like the Repayment Assistance Plan (RAP), and borrowers may be eligible for Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF) if they work full-time at a qualifying nonprofit or government employer and meet all program requirements.
Note: Grad PLUS loans are no longer available to students beginning medical programs on or after July 1, 2026, and Federal Direct Unsubsidized loans are now capped at $50,000 per year. Read more here
